Department of Music
Music is a way of life at The Choice School at Kozhikode and is taught simultaneously alongside the mainstream school curriculum. The Department of Music has a dedicated team of music teachers who provide students with technical training expertise and performance opportunities. Practice sessions with various percussion/acoustic instruments under the supervision of professional musicians form a part of the regular curriculum at The Choice School.
Department of Dance
Dance is considered an allied form of art and music and is given equal importance at The Choice School. Students are taught basic steps, techniques as well as margam (sequel dances) in Bharatanatyam at the Primary school and the Middle school. The students of the Senior school are taught basic steps and techniques of Kathakali and Kuchipudi. They are encouraged to create their own choreographies to express themselves. Fusion dance is the highlight of many dance performances in school.
The Visual Arts Programme
With the mission to inculcate sensitivity, the power of expression and creativity within every child, The Choice School offers a comprehensive curriculum in visual arts which allows students to work with various art materials, mediums and surfaces. Exhibitions of artwork by our students take place periodically. Trips to art galleries and museums are a part of field trips for students who major in visual arts.
Home Science
Apart from craft work, knitting and flower arrangement techniques, students are taught cooking, baking and serving protocols in Home Science. In higher grades, they are taught dining and table setting etiquette such as placement of cutlery, artistic folding of napkins and other such practical skills.Â
Sports
The Choice School at Kozhikode pays careful attention to the physical and emotional well-being of students. We believe that life skills such as team building and sportsmanship as well as values such as resilience, leadership, accountability, respect and patience are all embedded in sports. The Choice School has qualified coaches and top-class infrastructure to support aspiring athletes.
